Common warning signs that can happen up to four weeks before an attack include chest pains, breathing difficulties, palpitations, or a sudden drop in blood pressure that can even cause fainting.
The symptoms often first happen around four weeks ahead of an attack, and then recur 24 hours before the attack happens, say researchers at the American College of Physicians.
Those who contact the emergency services have a far greater chance of surviving.
