Essential fatty acid (EFA) supplements are one of the best ways of treating PMS (premenstrual syndrome) symptoms. Just one or two grams can make all the difference, say researchers.
They discovered that PMS sufferers noticed a significant reduction in their symptoms after three months of taking an EFA supplement every day. The supplement they used contained 2 grams of gamma linolenic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, polyunsaturated acids and vitamin E.
The research team, from the Federal University of Pernambuco in Brazil, tested the supplements on 120 PMS sufferers, whose symptoms were debilitating and had ruined their enjoyment of life.
