Your brain keeps renewing itself, whatever your age

It doesn’t matter how old you are, your brain keeps renewing itself.

Neurons are being formed all the time in the brain’s hippocampus, the area that controls memory, learning and emotions.

It’s a process that continues into great old age, say researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.

They assessed brain tissue taken from newborns to 78-year-olds and discovered that neurogenesis, the creation of neurons, was happening at every stage of life.
