Worried you’ll get prostate cancer? Your fingers will tell you

Reading time: 1 minute

If you want to know if you’re likely to develop prostate cancer, just take a look at the length of your fingers. Men whose index finger is longer than their ring finger are far less likely to develop the disease.
A longer index finger suggests the person was exposed to lower levels of testosterone while in the womb, and, as a result, is a third less likely to develop the cancer.
Scientists at the Institute of Cancer Research in the UK reckon this simple test is as accurate as any current prostate cancer examinations. They made the discovery after they questioned more than 1,500 prostate cancer patients and 3,000 healthy men.
Those who had longer index fingers had a 33 per cent lowered risk of developing the cancer, and the risk dropped to almost zero if they were also under the age of 60.
