Support Dr Myhill as she fights GMC censure over mammogram comments

Reading time: 1 minute

A doctor faces censure from the General Medical Council (GMC) for even suggesting that mammograms may not be the best screening method for detecting early-stage breast cancer.
Her criticism of mammography, which had been posted on her website, was not correct, was clinically unsubstantiated and was “contrary to national guidelines”, according to the GMC.
Dr Myhill could have accepted a warning for the statement and taken it down, but instead has decided to argue her position at a GMC investigation committee hearing, and intends to cross-examine the GMC’s own expert witnesses.
The hearing starts on Tuesday (October 2nd) at the GMC, 7th Floor, St James’s Buildings, 79 Oxford Street, Manchester M1 6FQ, at 9.30am. It is expected to last for three days.
The meeting is open to the public, and so anybody who wishes to show their support for Dr Myhill can do so.
