One session of exercise slows the spread of cancer by as much as 30 percent

Reading time: 1 minute

One session of strenuous exercise can slow the spread of cancer by as much as 30 percent.

A 30-minute exercise class of high-intensity or resistance training dramatically slows the spread of cancer.  It increases levels of myokines, a protein produced by muscles which have anti-cancer effects and slow its spread.

A group of women had their myokine levels checked before and after a 30-minute strenuous exercise class by researchers from Edith Cowan University in Australia who estimated that the spread of cancer cells had slowed by between 20 and 30 percent.
