Exhausted just by the thought of exercising? Then here’s some good news—being physically active for just 15 minutes a day can get you on the road to better health.
Health agencies such as the World Health Organization recommend that we do up to 300 minutes a week of moderate exercise—that’s around 42 minutes a day—but researchers from the University of South Australia have seen real benefits from far less activity.
The 11,757 participants who took up the 15-Minute Challenge—the name of a training app—reported an improvement in mood and sleep quality. Best of all, once they started, they couldn’t stop—and, on average, the participants did a further 12 minutes of exercise every day during the six weeks of the study.
