Exercising first thing in the morning is usually considered the best time to be active—but that’s not true if you suffer from type 2 diabetes.
Diabetics who are active in the afternoon see the biggest drop in blood sugar levels, say researchers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The researchers wanted to know the most optimum part of the day when people with diabetes should exercise, and so tracked the glucose levels of 2,400 diabetics for up to four years.
They discovered that afternoon exercise had the biggest impact on glucose levels—and improvements were so good that many were able to stop medication.
