Chemicals that are used in everyday products could be a cause of ADHD (attention deficit, hyperactive disorder) in our young. Researchers have discovered that ADHD children have higher levels of the chemical PCF than do children who don’t have the problem. Although researchers say that it does not prove that the chemicals cause the condition, they say there is definitely a link. Researchers from the Boston University School of Public Health analysed serum samples taken from 571 children aged between 12 and 15 years, 48 of whom had ADHD. The ADHD children had higher levels of PCFs than those that had not been diagnosed with the problem. A survey several years ago revealed that 98 per cent of the population has some level of PCF chemicals in their blood.
