Women who drink two cups of coffee a day reduce their risk of stroke

Women who drink more than one cup of coffee a day dramatically reduce their chances of stroke. But it’s not a case of the more the better – drinking five cups didn’t lower the risk any more than drinking just two cups.
Those who drink two cups a day have a 25 per cent lower risk of stroke compared to those who drink just one cup a day, or none.
Researchers from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden studied the lifestyles of 34,670 healthy women, aged from 49 to 83 years, over a 10-year period. Although 1,310 women suffered a stroke during the study period, far fewer who regularly drank more than one cup of coffee a day were affected.
Coffee may also protect against diabetes and liver cancer, the researchers add.
