Traditional Chinese remedy improves vision, scientist proves

Reading time: 1 minute

A scientist from China has discovered that his country’s traditional medicine is right: a berry really can help improve your vision, and make your eyes healthier. Researcher Dingbo Lin from Kansas State University was told by his father, a doctor of traditional medicine in China, that the wolfberry was good for the eyes, as well as a booster for the immune system, and would nourish the liver and kidneys. In a series of experiments with dried berries, Lin has discovered his country’s traditional medicine is right. The berries can improve damage to the retina, especially as a result of type II diabetes, and they can help improve vision that’s been affected by old age, or age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Lin says the berries can be taken as a supplement, but people in the West might have difficulties getting hold of them. They can be bought at Chinese supermarkets and stores, but also on the internet, says Lin. (Source: Kansas State University).
