Six days of Ayurvedic treatment reduces markers for heart disease and diabetes

Reading time: 1 minute

It’s been tested on a group of 119 healthy adults, whose blood was tested before and after they had the Ayurvedic-based Panchakarma therapy, which is practised at the Chopra Center for Wellbeing in Carlsbad, California.

The researchers, including Dr Deepak Chopra, say that the switch to a vegetarian diet for the six days is likely to be the most important element of the programme, as nothing else could have had such a significant impact in the time.

The approach altered the metabolic profile of the participants, as assessed by inflammatory markers in their blood plasma, say the researchers.
