Simple vitamin could reverse most lethal cancer

A simple vitamin could reverse the most lethal type of brain cancer, say researchers at the University of Calgary who have been using high doses of vitamin B3 (niacin) to combat glioblastoma.

The vitamin revives immune cells that tumors have shut down, and early results have found that patients are showing “significantly better progression-free survival.”  In other words, the vitamin is stopping the cancer from growing and spreading.  The cancer is one of the most lethal and is generally incurable.

In early trials on 24 glioblastoma patients, the cancer hadn’t progressed after six months in 20 of them, and this was a 28 percent improvement on earlier studies.  The researchers are now testing the vitamin on 48 other patients and should be reporting results early in 2027.
