Simon Singh’s ‘charity’ Sense About Science-which is fighting hard to get WDDTY banned from stores across the UK-has got it badly wrong about genetically-modified food.
It announced on national radio that the EU’s chief scientific advisor Anne Glover was ‘transparent’ in her dealings over GM foods-even though she has gone on public record to state that her function had to be ‘not transparent’.
As she revealed in an interview, she said her role was not transparent as, otherwise, “everybody will try to defend their position, and I’m not interested in that. I’m interested in getting the best evidence possible.”
Yet, in a Radio 4 Today broadcast, Sense About Science’s Sile Lane said Ms Glover had “said again and again that she wants the entire process of gathering evidence and shaping policy to be completely transparent.”
But distorting the facts is nothing new to Sense About Science, as we at WDDTY can testify. But then it keeps their paymasters happy.
