Fatty acids from fish protect us against inflammation and heart disease – and they can also help keep our eyesight sharp as we get older, new research has discovered.
DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, stops the build-up of a toxic molecule at the back of the eye, which causes vision loss when we are old.
The research team from the University of Alberta are now investigating the impact of DHA on people with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a common cause of vision loss.
