Natural immunity twice as effective as a Covid vaccine

Natural immunity after a Covid-19 infection gives you double the protection of a vaccine, a major new study has discovered.

Just 3 in 10,000 people (0.03 percent) who have naturally immunity, but haven’t been vaccinated, need hospital care if they have another Covid infection.  The protection offered by a Covid vaccine is only half as good, with 6 in every 10,000 vaccinated people (0.06 percent) being hospitalised.

Being vaccinated, and having natural immunity, gives the best protection of all, with just 1 in 10,000 of these (0.01 per cent) ending up in hospital, say researchers from the Mayo Clinic.

They tracked 106,349 people who had tested positive for Covid, 69 of whom needed hospital care for their infection.

The researchers concluded that vaccination is the best way to prevent severe Covid infection, hospitalisation, and death—a strange conclusion as their own data shows that natural immunity is twice as protective.
