Hundreds of millions of people around the world are malnourished: they are overweight or obese, or have too much salt or sugar in their blood, say researchers from the Global Nutrition Report.
Report researcher Prof Corinna Hawkes said the latest study is “redefining what the world thinks of as being malnourished.”
Its latest research findings have discovered that 44 per cent of countries around the world are experiencing very serious levels of malnutrition or obesity.
The report’s co-chairman Lawrence Haddad said: “We now live in a world where being malnourished is the new normal.”
The report points out that for every $1 spent on nutritional programmes, around $16 of benefits ensue.
