Major flaw in mRNA science

The science behind the new mRNA vaccines—which were introduced to combat the Covid-19 virus—is seriously flawed.

The antivirals target an area of the coronavirus known as the NiRAN domain, which helps the virus replicate.  Coronavirus vaccine design has been influenced by pivotal research by Chinese scientists in 2022, which focused on the domain as a target for vaccines that could counter future viral epidemics.

But the Chinese scientists got it wrong, as a new analysis by the Rockefeller Centre has established.

“Their work contains critical errors, and the data does not support their conclusions,” said Gabriel Small, one of the Rockefeller researchers.

Scientists still don’t know how the NiRAN domain works, or its significance in the spread of viruses, he said.

The findings could have sweeping implications for drug developers already working to design antivirals, which it now seems is based on flawed assumptions.
