Check the inside of your dishwasher – it could be trying to kill you. It is the perfect breeding ground for a fungus that can cause lung problems and even fatal infections.
The fungus – which looks like a black mould – has been found on the rubber band around the dishwasher door as well as inside the machine.
The fungus – E.dermatitidis and E.phaeromuriformis – is very durable, and can withstand the heat, high salt concentrations and aggressive detergents used in most dishwashers.
