Homeopathy is more effective than standard antibiotics for treating ringworm (tinea), the infectious skin condition that’s common in children living in humid climates.
The homeopathic remedy Bacillinum has been tested against Griseofulvin, an antibiotic antifungal that is the standard treatment for ringworm, on 49 children in Kenya diagnosed with the condition.
After six months treatment, 63 percent of the children given homeopathy were clear of infection compared to just 36 percent of those treated with antibiotics, researchers from Homeopathy for Health in Africa discovered.
The researchers point out that the homeopathic remedy is inexpensive, with each bottle costing less than 60 cents, and doesn’t have the same potential side effects of the antibiotic, which can include nausea, vomiting, headache and insomnia.
