High-dose vitamin C can reduce hair loss and make your hair healthier.
Taking 2000 mg of the vitamin every day for three months reduces hair loss by more than a third and can even help hair regrow.
Researchers from Princeton Consumer Research tested Altrient Liposomal Vitamin C sachets on a group of 15 women, aged between 21 and 66, who took two 1000 mg liposomal sachets a day for 12 weeks. By the end of the trial, they reported a 37 percent reduction in hair loss, and the extent of broken hairs had halved. There was also a 27percent increase in hair strength, and there were even signs of hair regrowing. All the participants agreed there had been an overall improvement in hair health.
A spokesperson for Altrient, which produces the liposomal sachets, explained that vitamin C helps the body absorb iron, which improves haemoglobin production that is vital for hair health, and it also supports collagen production, which promotes hair follicle growth.
Liposomals are better absorbed by the body and they bypass the gut, reducing the rate of mild stomach reactions that can happen with high doses of vitamin C.
