Having a lie-in at the weekend could reduce your chances of heart disease.
As a lack of sleep is a risk factor for heart disease, getting more sleep at the weekends could lower your chances by around 20 percent, say researchers from the National Centre for Cardiovascular Disease in Beijing.
They analysed data from more than 90,000 participants in the UK Biobank survey, and nearly 20,000 were ‘sleep deprived’, which was defined as getting less than seven hours sleep each night. But their risk of heart disease was reduced by as much as 20 percent if they slept in at the weekends.
