In fact, many of the researchers even denied any association to the drug company, say researchers from the American University of Beirut Medical Centre, who analysed previously-published medical trials, most of which were testing the effectiveness and safety of drugs.
As a conflict of interest could potentially influence the result, the researchers wanted to assess the prevalence of conflicts of interest, and whether they have been revealed.
