But the band’s manager Irving Azoff said that Frey’s RA medication played a part in his death. “The colitis and pneumonia were side effects from all the meds. He died from complications of ulcerative colitis after being treated with drugs for his rheumatoid arthritis which he had for over 15 years,” he told journalists.

RA affects around one per cent of the population, and disables at least half of sufferers within five years. Common RA drugs are considered to be some of the most dangerous medications, and include prednisone, and TNF-alpha inhibitors, such as Humira, Enbrel and Remicade. Side effects include infection and a raised cancer risk.
