If you’re drinking your coffee black and without sugar, you are doing your heart a favour.
People who drink their coffee as it comes reduce their chances of dying from a chronic disease by up to 17 percent compared to those who never drink the brew.
But these health benefits disappear if you add sugar and saturated fats like cream, say researchers from Tufts University.
Ideally, drink between one to three cups a day, the researchers say after they analysed data from around 46,000 people: one cup reduces your mortality risk by 16 percent, and it rises slightly to 17 percent if you’re drinking two to three cups a day.
But you can have too much of a good thing: cardiovascular benefits start to fall when you drink your fourth brew of the day, the researchers found.
