Boost your immune system with red grapes and blueberries

Reading time: 1 minute

A healthy immune system is vital for keeping us alive and well-and the best way to keep it in top condition is by eating plenty of red grapes and blueberries, a new study has found.
The two fruits stand out from the crowd when it comes to boosting our immune system, say researchers from the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University. Their active ingredients-resveratrol in red grapes and pterostilbene in blueberries-are compounds known as stilbenoids that work in synergy with vitamin D to feed the immune function.
Many fruits were tested, but the researchers said it was the grapes and blueberries that “popped right out”, they said. Their discovery could lead to special immune-boosting supplements and even topical applications to treat wounds and infections.
