Beetroot juice lowers blood pressure

Reading time: 1 minute

It may not be the most delicious tasting drink-but a glass of beetroot juice a day can lower your blood pressure.
People with high blood pressure (hypertension) who drink eight ounces of the juice a day see their heart pressure fall by around 10mm Hg, say researchers from the London Medical School.
If you can’t quite stomach drinking beetroot juice, dark leafy vegetables, or even a bowl of lettuce, could have the same effects on blood pressure. All are rich in nitric oxide, and this widens blood vessels and allows the blood to flow more freely.
