Long Covid could be a reaction to the mRNA vaccine, a new study has suggested.
The symptoms—flu-like reactions that last for three months or more—are similar to post-vaccination syndrome, which had been thought to be a separate condition.
But researchers from BreatheMD, a clinic in Houston, Texas think they could be one and the same problem, and that it’s caused by the vaccine as much as by a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
They took blood samples from a hundred people with long Covid, 81 of whom had been vaccinated. The vaccinated had 10-times the levels of spike proteins as sufferers who hadn’t been vaccinated, suggesting the vaccine is playing a key role in long Covid.
The study hasn’t been peer reviewed, which means its analysis and conclusions haven’t been verified by independent scientists, and it hasn’t been published.
