Japanese exports contaminated by radiation from nuclear meltdown

Exports from Japan contaminated by high levels of radiation from the country’s nuclear meltdown in Fukushima are beginning to arrive in Western ports.
Last week Russian custom officials stopped 49 contaminated cars from a consignment of 300 newly manufactured vehicles.
Russia has not revealed the origins of the consignment, although health campaigner Wilfrid Hartnagel of Infoholix believes it must be from an area previously trusted, and which usually checks for imperfections, potential health problems or radiation. If so, it suggests that other Japanese goods – such as cameras, TVs and camcorders – could also be contaminated.
