When combined with CBD, lower doses of antibiotics are proving to be effective, when previously very high doses were not killing bacteria.
The combination has killed the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, which are often responsible for hospital-acquired infections. The bacteria had taken on the status of a superbug after it had proved resistant to a range of drugs, including several antibiotics.
In laboratory tests, researchers from the University of Southern Denmark discovered the combination of CBD with the bacitracin antibiotic was stopping the bacteria from dividing and developing. The bacteria’s membrane also became unstable, allowing the antibiotic to do its work.
