Don’t lose sleep over your smartphone

Don’t lose sleep over your smartphone image

Using your smartphone too much can make you lose sleep, and also affect the quality of the sleep you do get.

You’re also more likely to sleep less if you use your smartphone just before you go to bed, say researchers from the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF).

They analysed the sleeping and smartphone habits of 653 adults who averaged 38.4 hours on their phones every month—or just over an hour’s usage every day. At that level, people were still able to achieve seven to eight hours of quality sleep at night, but anything over that started to affect the amount of sleep and the quality of sleep.
