Stone fruits combat weight gain, heart disease and inflammation

Fruits with stones - such as peaches, plums and nectarines - can help ward off heart disease, and even help you stay slim, especially if you have diabetes

Fruits with stones - such as peaches, plums and nectarines - can help ward off heart disease, and even help you stay slim, especially if you have diabetes.
The fruits have bioactive compounds that work on different cellular activities that are generally called 'metabolic syndrome'. Diseases associated with the syndrome include obesity, inflammation and heart disease.
Researchers from Texas AgriLife say the stone fruits are unusual because they all contain four major compounds that work simultaneously against different components of syndrome-related diseases.
