Radioactive particles leaking from drug manufacturing plant

Leaks from a pharmaceuticals manufacturing plant are the likely source of radioactive particles that have been discovered across Europe

Leaks from a pharmaceuticals manufacturing plant are the likely source of radioactive particles that have been discovered across Europe.
Nuclear monitoring centres in Europe, and especially in the Czech Republic, have been detecting iodine-131 particles since late October. The particles decay only after eight days.
At first, researchers from the International Atomic Energy Agency thought the particles had come from the Fukushima nuclear plant, devastated in last spring's earthquake and tsunami in Japan, but Czech nuclear safety chief Dana Drabova believes the leak occurred during production of radiopharmaceuticals. Radiopharmaceuticals are radioactive drugs most commonly used in screening and diagnosis tests.
