If you have diabetes, start drinking black tea - it may be a great way of controlling the problem.
Researchers tested green, oolong and black tea to discover the best one for treating diabetes. The key is the tea's level of polysaccharides, a type of carbohydrate that includes starch and cellulose, which slows the body's absorption of glucose, or blood sugar.
Of the three teas tested, the polysaccharides in black tea had the most glucose-inhibiting properties. The black tea polysaccharides were also the most effective in fighting free radicals, which are believed to play an important role in the development of cancer and rheumatoid arthritis.
