Reading a magazine every day can help prevent memory loss in later life, researchers have discovered

Reading a magazine every day can help prevent memory loss in later life, researchers have discovered.

People who take up a hobby or regularly read after they reach the age of 70 are far less likely to suffer memory loss later on. And one of the worst things you can do is to watch television for seven or more hours every day, as this can increase the risk of memory loss by 50 per cent.

"This study is exciting because it demonstrates that aging does not need to be a passive process," said lead researcher Yonas Geda at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
