Dr Ryta Kuzel told regulators that Roche was giving the clinic vast amounts of its weight loss drug Xenical (orlistat), and there were question marks about the whole transaction. The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has since cleared Roche of any wrong doing in the arrangement, although it is still investigating the clinic, which is based in a converted corner shop in Derbyshire.
Dr Kuzel was escorted from the drug company's premises in March 2005. After winning her case for unfair dismissal she is now seeking to be reinstated, and she is also pressing for a compensation payment.
