So, with funding in hand, a research team decided to examine the commonly held belief that sugar sweetened drinks make children fat. They recruited 548 children and studied them for two years, and concluded and we quote the conclusion in full that "consumption of sugar sweetened drinks is associated with obesity in children" (Lancet, 2001; 357: 505-8).

Buoyed up by this amazing discovery, we understand the team is about to turn its laser attention to the conundrum: "Is rain wet?"
