The MMR mums: First, a very big thanks to all of you who have made donations

The MMR mums: First, a very big thanks to all of you who have made donations. Please keep your donations coming - they're going to a very good cause.

We understand that one of the mums is continuing the fight to the European courts, and our money is to help support her during these very anxious and stressful times.

The debate rages among you about the ethics of supporting the mothers. Some of you feel that the father has as much right as the mother to choose his child's healthcare. But our concern is about the dangerous precedent of the state's intervention to enforce compulsory vaccination, and it is this that has to be resisted. One of the great freedoms people in the UK enjoy over other countries such as the USA is our right to decide on vaccinations for our children.

The court's intervention couldn't have happened at a worse time, with vaccination levels now at an all-time low because of the feared link between the MMR and autism. If our government can go to war against the express wishes of the majority of the nation, it can introduce compulsory vaccinations without even a second thought.

That, gentlemen (and it's been mainly men who've complained about our stance on this), is why we support the vaccination mothers - and so should all of us who believe in individual freedom, tempered by responsibility and informed consent.

To e-mail a credit-card donation, send your details to: MMRFund@wddty.co.uk, or fax them to 0870 444 9887. You can send a cheque, made payable to 'The MMR Account', to WDDTY. 2 Salisbury Road, London SW19 4EZ. Thank you for any help you can give.
