Green tea does it again: now it might combat hiv

Green tea is fast turning into a remedy that has the status of an urban myth

Green tea is fast turning into a remedy that has the status of an urban myth. It seems to be able to tackle most diseases, or so its supporters claim.

New research suggests that the catechins found in the tea could prevent HIV infection. Apparently, they prevent the virus from binding to CD4 molecules on human T cells. The research team suggests that green tea could form the basis for a new anti-HIV drug. Alternatively, people could just drink green tea, perhaps.
