Older people who have high levels of vitamin D-whether derived from sun exposure or supplements-have proved to do far better in mental tests than those with lower levels.

The importance of vitamin D in performing mental tasks has already been shown in several trials, and these earlier findings have now been confirmed in a new study involving 80 patients (Arch Biochem Biophys, 2007; e-pub 8 January).
