Hospital horrors make me hope i never have to go

I'd just like to tell you a little about some of my experiences working as a complementary therapist in my own practice, and also part-time in an intensive care unit at The Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, where I have been employed for 16 years.

I often observe 'horror stories' on the unit - for example, the patient who had to have a large portion of bowel excised due to the surgeon's 'accidentally' clamping off of the mesenteric artery - and I am aware that these are not isolated cases. I see numerous drug reactions in patients and, yet, never once have I seen the yellow-card reporting system used.

The list goes on. I hope I never have to be admitted. - Patricia Tseng, Reading
