Re John Diamond, don't be too upset about his comments. He was, after all, gravely ill. It cannot be gratifying to be remembered for dying of a disease, however wittily one does it.
And in the end, there can surely be nothing worse for anybody than to lose all hope. Compassion may be the best form of defence.
