The article on heart disease by Dr John Mansfield in the November issue of WDDTY (vol 10 no 8) was very informative and most interesting. However, I believe that it would have been more useful if recommendations had been given of the quantities of mineral and vitamin supplements that are most beneficial.Basil J Daleboudt, Richmond, Surrey.

It is difficult, if not impossible, to determine exact levels of nutrients, as they vary between individuals. As a rough guide, though, heart patients should take 400 mg or more of magnesium and 100 mcg of chromium, as part of a comprehensive dietary and supplements programme.
