Does the 150 mg of Silybum marianum refer to seed (or seed powder), or herb, or extract (what per cent silymarin?), or a mixture of all of these as in the Solgar Milk Thistle? Frances Dorman, Norwich.......

WDDTY replies: You can use either dried herbs or extract of silymarin. However, we urge anyone interested in the altenative therapies for gall stones to work with a qualified herbalist.

Please also note that we have just discovered that Heptachlor is no longer made. The NutriCentre can provide dandelion root products, which are essentially the same thing, as well as silymarin (tel: 0171 436 5122).
