I am pleased that you've brought a point out about Chinese herbalism (Viewpoint, Vol 4 No 12). The very real problem for Westerners is sorting the wheat from the chaff on the thousands of herbs given with advice about "fire and water", "wet or dry", etc, with weights given in very vague terms. No one doubts the uses of Chinese herbalism, but we most certainly need reference books that someone other than the Chinese can understand. Gerald Green, medical herbalist, Bexhill-on-Sea.....
