Regular readers will know that the PSA (prostate specific antigen) test is one of the most useless in the whole armoury of medical procedures. It's, at best, a poor predictor of prostate cancer, and is very unreliable when it comes to picking up early-stage prostate cancer.

But the news goes from bad to worse, according to the findings of a new study. The PSA even misses high-grade tumours, researchers found when it was tested on a group of nearly 19,000 men. Overall, the test detected just 21 per cent - or one in five - of prostate cancers.

The only wonder is that doctors still persists with a test that should be consigned to the medical dustbin.

* OK, we know men don't take any interest in health (which is probably why poor tests such as the PSA are allowed to continue). But there's so much that can be done in preventing prostate cancer and other prostate problems, and they're all explained in the WDDTY Guide to Men's Health. It's as easy to get as a PSA test, and it's far more reliable. It's yours by clicking here: http://www.wddty.com/shop
