This woman's friend is incapacitated with Behcet's, a condition in which the body's immune system attacks and harms its own tissues (in this case, the veins become inflamed). This autoimmune disease is characterised by redness, heat, swelling and pain. Any and all suggestions on how to manage this disease are appreciated. There is a very helpful article by Tal Kinnersly on www.behcet.org.il. She drinks a lot of water and keeps a diary noting which foods cause her flare-ups. There are also some specific diet plans, like Kevin Chow's and the raw food regimen (recommended for sort-term use). Exercise and antioxidants (like vitamins A, C and E) are also good ideas. TMG (derived from red beet) is another helpful supplement.
