Next, we have the reader looking for suggestions to help her friend through the chemotherapy she's taking for B-cell lymphoma. Homeopathy and acupuncture received a few mentions as useful tools for helping a person overcome the ravages of chemotherapy. Several readers have also lauded nutritional supplements as an effective way of ironing out the adverse consequences of chemotherapy. In general, the supplements aimed to strengthen the immune system and support the liver. The suggested inventory featured largely vitamins, fish oils and antioxidants. One reader took capsules containing omega oil from anchovy and antioxidants (www.nutergia.fr ) before breakfast and lunch throughout the entire duration of his chemotherapy, while another reader suggests taking B vitamins, vitamins C, E and probiotics. Recommended liver cleansers include Desmodium, devil's claw and milk thistle. One reader who was diagnosed with low grade B-cell lymphoma says she even managed to bypass chemotherapy altogether by following a course of antioxidants, vitamins and other nutritional supplements prescribed by WDDTY panellist Dr Jean Monro at the Breakspear hospital.
