Yoghurt risky for ovarian cancer?
Q:While reading the special report on alternatives to hysterectomy (vol 7 no 1), I came cross the paragraph that says that women should eliminate dairy products, especially yoghurt and cottage cheese, in order to avoid ovarian cancer. Galactose is
In order for lactose to be digested, it must be split into glucose and galactose by the enzyme lactase secreted by the small intestine.
So is galactose the culprit, along with the dairy fat?
It also possible that people with a higher socio economic status may indulge in other food substances that are far more incriminating than plain yoghurt, which has been considered health enhancing due to its friendly bacteria.
