What happens when you give swine flu to a pig?
Although it’s called swine flu, pigs don’t actually get it. So what happens if you do give swine flu to a pig?
To find out, researchers injected a litter of 22-day-old pigs with the H1N1 strain, responsible for the current swine flu scare, and with the less dangerous H3N2 virus.
And just like us, the pigs developed flu-like symptoms, including nasal discharge, coughing, sneezing and conjunctivitis.
And just like us, the flu lasted for less than a week, and none of the pigs died.
